Initial situation

The construction company supplies its customers with reinforcing bars in material boxes.
The construction company lacks an overview of the current location of the material boxes.
Finding and returning the boxes incurs high costs.
This leads to numerous empty journeys and has a considerable impact on the company's CO2 balance.

Solution Intelligent material tracking

The construction company equips its material boxes with Bluetooth sensors (see image).
A network of antennas (gateways) covers the entire company premises and enables wireless communication with the sensors.
In addition, the transport vehicles are equipped with gateways to ensure that the materials are also monitored during transport to the construction site.
The NTRACK platform serves as a central control level and provides real-time status reports.

"Precise location tracking" process

As soon as a material box leaves the company premises, the integrated sensor transmits this information to the nearest gateway.
The gateway forwards the unique serial number of the box to the NTRACK platform.
In this way, the construction company can determine the exact location of each individual box at any time and find out which are currently on the company premises and which are on their way.
The transport vehicles are also equipped with gateways so that the last known location of a box is transmitted immediately after unloading.
